Trump agrees to Fox News plan for debate with Harris


Donald Trump says he has agreed to a proposal from US broadcaster Fox Information to debate Vice-President Kamala Harris on 4 September.

A debate between the previous president and incumbent Joe Biden had been scheduled on rival community ABC Information for 10 September and Ms Harris agreed to take Mr Biden’s place in it.

However Mr Trump stated the ABC debate had been “terminated” by Mr Biden leaving the race. Ms Harris is but to touch upon the brand new Fox Information proposal.

The 2 candidates will go head-to-head for the presidency on 8 November, after Ms Harris was formally chosen as the Democratic nominee on Friday.

If the Fox Information debate goes forward, it will likely be the second presidential debate of the election cycle – and the primary between Ms Harris and Trump.

It’s pencilled to happen in Pennsylvania – a key battleground state – at a location but to be determined. Trump wrote that the moderators could be Fox Information’ Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum – and that the principles could be just like his debate with Mr Biden.

“If for any purpose Kamala is unwilling or unable to debate on that date, I’ve agreed with Fox to do a serious City Corridor on the identical September 4th night,” Mr Trump wrote on his social community Fact Social.

Mr Biden dropped out of the presidential race on 21 July, saying it was “in one of the best curiosity of my get together and the nation”.
