4 Sri Lankan fishermen have died and one other two are critically sick after consuming an unknown liquid from bottles they discovered whereas at sea, in response to native media stories.
The sailors have been mentioned to be on a fishing journey once they retrieved the bottles round 320 nautical miles from Tangalle, a city on the southern coast of the island.
The Sri Lanka Navy informed reporters the fishermen had drunk from the bottles pondering they contained alcohol.
Director Basic of the Sri Lankan Division of Fisheries and Aquatic Sources, Susantha Kahawatte, informed a number of shops that the navy was making an attempt to convey them again to shore.
He reportedly mentioned that the the navy was offering medical consideration to the boys aboard the fishing vessel – named the Devon – over issues there was not sufficient time to return them to land for remedy.
The BBC has approached Mr Kahawatta and the Sri Lanka Navy for affirmation and remark.
Mr Kahawatta informed nationwide information station Ada Derana that the fishermen had distributed a few of the bottles to different crews working within the space.
He added that makes an attempt to inform these crews have been being made.
The navy informed native media that the Devon was being towed again to shore by one other vessel. It set off from Tangalle on 4 June.
The incident has reportedly prompted protests within the coastal city – situated round 120 miles (193km) from the capital, Colombo – calling for the sailors who have been nonetheless alive to be returned to land.
Authorities at the moment are investigating the contents of the bottles.
