20 people killed, 21 others injured after bus falls into ravine in Gilgit-Baltistan



GILGIT-BALTISTAN [PoK]: No less than 20 folks have been killed and 21 others injured after a passenger bus veered off a slim mountain highway and fell right into a ravine in Diamer district of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir‘s Gilgit-Baltistan, Geo Information reported, citing police.
The accident occurred on the Yashokhal space on the Karakoram Freeway in PoK’s Diamer on Friday at 5:30 am (native time), in response to police.The bus was heading from Rawalpindi to Gilgit. In accordance with police, no less than 38 passengers have been travelling within the bus.
Following the accident, rescue groups have been dispatched to the location of the accident. The injured folks and the lifeless our bodies have been taken to a hospital in Chilas. The deceased folks included three girls, in response to the Well being Division director, Geo Information reported.
Talking to Geo Information, Diamer Deputy Commissioner Fayyaz Ahmed stated that the situation of no less than 5 injured passengers is critical, whereas two have been shifted to Gilgit metropolis. Ahmed stated that he’s in contact with the households of the victims.
The official stated, “The accident happened 20 kilometres away from Chilas metropolis. The bus met with an accident whereas overspeeding or taking a flip.”
Gilgit-Baltistan chief minister Haji Gulbar Khan supplied his condolences over the incident. He ordered the administration and rescuers to offer rapid medical support to the injured. Gilgit-Baltistan authorities spokesperson introduced that an emergency has been imposed in Chilas Hospital.
